Lt.
Governors Official Visit to Board: Lt. Governor Steve Golden
spoke regarding the Governors Official Visit scheduled for
December 8, 2007. The Governor, Oscar Knight, wants to participate
in a service project during his official visits. Since he is visiting
during the Rose Float decorating month, Steve would like Oscar
to assist with the decorating and observe and speak with the sponsored
youth participants in work groups while they are decorating. Oscar
will be asked to arrive at 8:00 a.m. and work until 12:00 noon
(four-hour shift) along with any volunteers from Division 10.
He will then proceed to the Holly Street Bar & Grill in Old
Town Pasadena for a 1:00 p.m. reception and luncheon to be held
in his honor by Kiwanis members in Division 10. The Rose Float
Club Board approved this agenda.
Approval
of Minutes: The minutes were approved as corrected.
Treasurer's
Report: Treasurer Craig Wallace announced that the club has 53
paid members as of 9/30/07 for the 2007-2008 year. As of the same
date there were 62 Grand Drawing tickets sold out of a total of
200 tickets available for the spring drawing. Seventy-five tickets
sold will be the break even number. Board members were encouraged
to continue selling the Grand Drawing tickets in their respective
divisions. The income and expenses column showed that the club
finished the year with a $1,318.44 net loss and the club foundation
had a $1,034.71 net loss. It was M/S/P to approve the Treasurers
Report as presented.
Board
Action: Based on the amount in the bank, it was M/S/P to send
$1,000 to the committee toward the cost of the 2008 Rose Float.
Drawing for Raffle (Rose Float Parking, Luncheon, Parade Seats
and Rose Bowl Game): It will be at 9:00 a.m. at the Rose Float
Club meeting on December 1 at the Rosemont Pavilion.
Next club meeting: The October 13 club meeting will be at Dennys
in Temple City at 9:00 a.m. The Gala Fundraising Steering Committee
will then meet at 10:00 a.m. at the same site.
November 10th Simi Valley Interclub Meeting: Photo Day for the
Rose Float is the same day and time. It was decided by the Board
that Dave Wallach will handle Photo Day with some of the riders.
The rest of the club will attend the Simi Valley Interclub. Lynn
Seeden, Cal-Nev-Ha Magazine Editor, was suggested as a speaker
for the event. President Allen will contact her for availability.
Kiwanis Directors and Officers (D&O) Insurance Policy: This
insurance is offered by Kiwanis International through the Hyland
Insurance Group. There was a discussion on the reasons the D &
Os should have this coverage. Last year Reid Allen purchased
this insurance out of his own pocket for the Board. The cost was
pro-rated because it wasnt purchased at the beginning of
the year. The Board voted to renew the insurance for this year
at a cost of $515.83. They chose to exclude the Crime Insurance
which is an option.
Board and Officer Pins: Pins were handed out to those who missed
receiving them at the club installation. A special honor was given
to Dave Wallach for his many contributions to the club and the
committee. He was upgraded to a Diamond Level Dunlap. Congratulations
Dave! It was well deserved.
Meeting
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
